Little break

Break

Sorry for being so spotty with my posts lately. I’ve been buried with work, and I will be for another month. I’ll try to post at least once a week for now, since I also need to catch up on other things, including your blogs, sorry!

Have a good day!

Madrid Fashion Week – Duyos

Duyos - Madrid Fashion Week

Sorry for the fashion week overload, but I saw this and it made me really happy. Juan Duyos, an incredible Spanish designer, prepared a different show for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid. He requested 17 dancers from the Spanish National Ballet (Ballet Nacional de España)
to model his collection inspired in the colors of the Canary Islands while dancing. What an incredible thing to do, don’t you think? The girls were fantastic and the dresses… dreamy. I saw some videos on Instagram and gave me goosebumps. I just loved the mix of both arts and the fact that they also offered a display of different dance disciplines to a fashion crowd. The Ballet Director also joined them at the end of the show. I think it was fantastic and different, and wanted to share it with you.

New York Fashion Week – Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez - NY Fashion Week - Spring 2015

I never understood fashion as something that you can’t wear. I remember watching fashion shows and not understanding why the clothes showed weren’t really something wearable.
Of course, my brain didn’t get that fashion is an art form, and as such, it’s about individuality and creativity. I appreciate those shows more, but I still like fashion that I could see myself wearing. I think this is why I always liked Narciso Rodriguez. In my opinion, he’s one of those designers that just gets it right. I sometimes see a celebrity wearing a dress that I love, and then turns out it’s one of his creations.

These are some of the looks from his Spring 2015 collection showed in New York Fashion Week. Jumpsuits, dresses, and pretty much black and white. He reads my mind.

Too many necklaces – DIY organizer

Jewelry Organizer If you’re a little bit like me, I’m sure you’ve collected way too many accessories. Necklaces are my latest obsession. I don’t know what it is, but I just like to get them and I feel like I never have enough.
Remember my post about Stitch Fix? One of the items I decided to keep was a necklace. Back in the day I had a huge earring collection that could’ve put Tiffany’s to sham (in quantity not in quality); now I just wear the same earrings pretty much everyday. I don’t do bracelets or rings much, but necklaces are another story, and for some reason now they always have to be in gold. I used to be a silver kind of girl, but now it’s just gold.

A while back I did this DIY. Not sure where I learned how to make it, but the whole thing fell and broke. Thanks landlord for not letting us make holes in the wall and making us use Command Strips that don’t always work. This time around I decided to redo it and hang it properly. We’ll see what happens when we move.

This is a super easy DIY. I have zero craft skills, but this one is a no-brainer, and I love the final look, hence the reason why for once I decided to do this instead of buying some kind of organizer. Jewelry Organizer

You’ll need:

  • Some kind of frame, whatever you have around. I bought mine at Michael’s. My only recommendation is that you get a wood frame.
  • Paper for the background. Anything you like will work. Mine is wrapping paper, but I also thought that getting creative with washi tape would look great too.
  • Push pins
  • Hammer
  • Nail polish (optional)

Instructions:

  • Cut the paper to cover the area where the photo would go in the frame.
  • Hammer the push pins on the frame, on the side you prefer depending on the length of your necklaces, leaving around one inch in between them.
  • You can use colored push pins but if you don’t have them you can use nail polish to color the top of the pins.

Voilà, you have a pretty and decorative way to display your necklaces, or at least some of them.

Let me know if you end up doing this. I would love to see the results.

Nails Trend – Fall 2014

Nude Nails Fall Trend

I really like nails properly done, it makes your hands look pretty, you feel pretty, put together and all that jazz but, I don’t tend to get professionally done.
I think it’s a waste of money because I feel they don’t do them the right way, or at least the way I like, plus the polish doesn’t last. Now pedicures are another story. I’m in for one any time, any place.

As I was catching up on my magazine reads, like I mentioned here, I saw that the trend for this fall seems a little bit less “crazy” and very neutral. I don’t follow any of the nails trends, but I was surprised to see short nails and nudes for this fall.

I personally love very short nails in dark colors like blue or burgundy, or the complete extreme, pale or beige. I guess I’ll be on trend this year.
